We have a heavy desire for joy and yet we hang it on fragile things that easily snap: health, family, jobs, or stuff. These are all blessings from the Lord. But they are incapable of holding up the lasting joy because they are uncertain. What sorrow are you feeling that Jesus could be turning into joy?
Reading from John 16:24 reminds us, “until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
